The Kitties

Meet Bashful
(Excuse the mess in the picture, its my little brother's room in the background lol)
Bashful will be 8 years old very soon! My family got her, her brother and sister, a couple months after we moved to South Carolina. She was very timid and shy unlike her brother and sister (hence the name Bashful). She would also run and hide every time people would come visit. But after years past, she wasn't as shy as when we brought her home. She would come into the living room and rub all over people. She is so sweet, and loves attention. Now that she's getting older she likes to sit where ever some one has just gotten up from sitting, or she will lay right on top of you so she can get warm. She also really likes to sunbath. And she really really likes sleeping. Its really all she does. There are a few times when she'll find something to play with and chase it through the house. She still has a little kitten in her.

Ninja!
So obviously you can see why we named him Ninja. lol. When we got him he was originally named Leonidas. (The guy in 300 lol) But we changed it. Everyone would tell me and my husband to change his name to midnight, or other common names for black cats. Which I didn't want. I thought it was unoriginal. But after a while, his mannerism didn't fit the name we gave him. He was so sneaky and fast. And QUIET! He would come out of no where, then disappear. He loved playing with the dogs!  But he would do it his way. He would wait until Sadie would turn around and face us, and he would come from underneath the couch and attack her tail or leg and then run underneath the couch. It was so cute! I miss him being a kitten! Here is a picture of him when we got him in 2010.

Doesn't that picture just melt your heart and make you say, "AWWWWW!" lol! When he was a kitten he really likes to watch tv, or play with the arrow on the computer screen. And if he wasn't doing those things, or practicing his ninjutsu on the dogs, he was sleeping. And his two favorite places to sleep was on my printer, or in my shirt! lol He would lay right on my chest and fall asleep. He's another momma's boy. Him and Sadie have a close relationship. When he was a kitten, Sadie acted as though Ninja was her baby! So cute! Ugh, I miss him being a kitten!

Well, those are my kitties.

Spring Cleaning Haul!

Yay! It's the most wonderful time of the year! Oh wait, that's Christmas..

It's that time of the year for spring cleaning. For me, not the most wonderful time of the year. But once I'm done I know I'll feel better about how extra clean and organized my house is! I would like to share some of the things that I've bought to give my house a good cleaning.

1. Air Cleaning Filter
Not only should you get one of these during this time of the year, you need to change them every 2-3 months. (I've been kind of neglecting that lol) This will help reduce all the allergens in the air. I had to get the one that helps with pet dander, I have 6 animals!

2. Air Filter Freshener
It may not go with any of the other scented things that I bought, but I'm fine with that. This goes on your air filter, and helps your house smell gooooood! Especially if you have animals that don't like to smell good. Like my dogs.

3. Swiffer Wet Jet
This was a much needed splurge! I have a cotton mop that is so aggravating! And in my opinion, doesn't really work. Doesn't clean the way I want to clean my floors. So I got the wet jet and I'm so excited to use it!!

4. Pet Fresh Carpet Odor Eliminator
Something you will definitely need if you have indoor animals like I do! I would recommend vacuuming your carpets first, then sprinkling this on the floor. Also, don't just sprinkle it on the floor. Use your broom to really get the powder down into your carpet. And then just let it sit in your carpet for 15-20 minutes, and then vacuum the room a couple times to make sure that you've gotten all the powder! Then bend down and sniff your fresh smelling carpet ;)
Even if you don't have animals I would recommend getting a carpet odor eliminator.

5. Vacuum Filter
Not only does your air filter need a new filter, your vacuum does too! I can't really give you a recommendation on how often you should change this filter. It varies from vacuum to vacuum. But this Febreze vacuum filter makes the air that comes out of your vacuum smell good!

6. Air fresheners!
After all the mopping, dusting, washing, and vacuuming that you'll do, go ahead and make your house smell extra good with your favorite scents!! This air freshener by Febreze is my ABSOLUTE favorite smell for spring and summer time! Hands down, no competition!

Time to start cleaning ya'll. Woo hoo.. :/

;)

Why I started a blog

Not only did I start this blog to share my life with family, and friends. I also started it for a different reason.

When my husband (who was my boyfriend at the time) told me he wanted to join the military I was shocked. I never thought in my life that he would want to. I remember years ago when I mentioned something about joining the military I remember him saying that he would probably never join the military. So when he said he was thinking about joining you could imagined how shocked I was, and kind of confused.

After that, I tried looking up books and blogs to try to prepare me for what we would have to face together. And I found a couple books that could help, but were a little expensive for me to buy at the time. And the blogs I was reading weren't really helping me.

I know I'm not the only girl out there that felt confused and scared, and I'm sure there are others who are now getting told by their boyfriends, fiances, or husbands that they want to join the military and are shocked an confused just like I was almost two years ago.

And I want to help.

Maybe I can help some of you ladies or even some of you guys out there. I know it would have helped me when I was first doing my research.

I'm still new at military life. I still have SO much more to experience. My husband is still in tech school, and that is why I wanted to start this now. While all these experiences are still new and fresh in my mind. I think it's the best way to do it. Why not?

I hope I can help out as much as I can!

Taking on your other half's chores!

Even though it doesn't sound fun, you HAVE to do it. And you can do it!

When my husband was home, I took care of the house while he took care of the yard work, and paying the bills and making sure they were paid on time.

In December, I was so scared about paying the bills. I never had to do them in my life. A couple weeks before he left I would tell him how worried I was that I would forget to pay a bill. We had to pay Kay's Jewelers, Walmart (we had a Walmart credit card lol), rent, electricity, cell phone bill, car insurance, and there a few others. Thankfully some of them were directly taken out from our bank account! lol. He reassured me that I would be fine, and I wouldn't forget. And if I did I'd be in trouble. lol. Near the end of January, I paid off Walmart, and his dental bill completely off, so now I don't have to pay them anymore thank goodness! So we had about $150 extra that we have in our bank account. Then in February I paid off Kay's completely so needless to say we now have over $200 extra! Now I can spend it on what ever I want! lol! Just kidding! Maybe... ;)

Now the yard work I never liked! I hate the heat of South Carolina. And I get sunburns way to easy. Put it this way, SPF 100 is my best friend! But no matter how much you hate the chore that your husband agreed to do, when he's gone, it is now your chore! So, because I have the best luck in the world, the day I went to go start the lawn mowers (we own two) the newest one would not start. Even after charging the battery, putting gas and oil in it. And the other lawn mower had a flat tire that would not blow up. So we had to take the tire to a man in my neighborhood who works on lawn mowers. He put a tube in it and thankfully the next morning he came and got the other lawn mower and said he would work on it. And the other thing that I was happy about, the day that I did the lawn, a cold front came in! So instead of it being the usual 85-90 degrees that it has been for the past couple weeks, it was only 65 degrees!  After a couple hours my yard was done! And looked great! I think I did better than my husband if I do say so myself. Tee hee!

Listen ladies, it wont be fun having to do everything. I know it's not fun. But the chores have to get done. But by the end of the day when everything is done, you'll feel so accomplished and so proud of yourself! I promise!

XOXO,
Sam :)

Meet the Doggies

Introducing Jasmine!
This is Jasmine. Mostly known as Jazzy. She's 5 years old now, and is a Jack Russell mix. I've had her since I was a sophomore in high school. She was originally my friend Whitney's dog, but her family was getting rid of their animals and my mom loved Jasmine. If I had to describe her in five words, those five words would be:
  1. Loving
  2. Feisty
  3. Spoiled
  4. Princess
  5. Loud
She likes to give and receive loving. And she LOVES to get babied when she's hurt. For example, she hurt her leg a couple weeks ago and could barely walk. She needed help going up and down the stairs, and getting on the couch. She also wants to lay down on a homemade bed made of blankets and pillows, and wants to cover up with a blanket. lol! She will give you the puppy eyes until you do cover her. She can be a drama queen sometimes too.
She also understands who is allowed around the house and who is not. She does NOT like strangers, and barks to let you know if someone is in the yard, or walking the road. lol. I'm surprised my neighbors haven't complained about her barking! ;)

Meet Sadie Pup!!
This is Sadie! Also known as Sadie Pup, which she is mostly called. It's been a while since we've called her just Sadie. She is THE MASTER of the puppy dog eyes. She is two years old now, and is a lab mix. My husband gave me her as a Christmas present on December 21, 2009. She is the most friendly dog I've ever had, and met. She loves all animals, and she really likes making friends. She's very motherly to all baby animals. When we got our cat Ninja, she cared for him as if he were hers. She even let him suck on her nipples when he was a kitten. She's even protective of my hamster, and wont let the other animals near him. I'm very sad that she was fixed when we got her, because I think she would have made a great mommy. And she would have beautiful puppies because I don't know if you noticed, but she's pretty beautiful herself. lol. Many people who've seen Sadie have asked whether she was fixed or not. When we tell them she's fixed they get disappointed and say, "that's such a shame. She's a beautiful dog." And don't get me wrong, she maybe very friendly, but she is also protective of her family. If I had to describe her in five words they would be:
  1. Friendly
  2. Motherly
  3. Loving
  4. Happy
  5. Smart
She also really loves her daddy. She was supposed to be my Christmas present, but she took to Daren immediately. And I know she's misses him a lot since he left for BMT (Basic Military Training) and Technical school. She has taken to me since he left, but I'm sure when he comes back she'll forget about me. lol! And I know that out of everyone (dogs, cats, family and me) she will be the one who is the most happiest to see him!

Max's Story
This is Max and we think he is a pitbull mix. We got Max before my husband left for BMT. We don't know exactly how Max was treated before we rescued him, but we know he wasn't treated nicely. He showed up at Daren's grandmother's house, and they noticed that his ribs were slightly showing, and his back was covered in tar. (As seen in the picture above.) When Daren brought him home, he was very timid and he whined a lot. When we would walk toward him he would sink to the ground, and his eyes would flinch as if he were scared we would hit him. I've found out over the months that we've had him that he is afraid of brooms, hammers, and plastic grocery bags. I don't even have to shake the plastic bag open to get that loud noise it makes to scare him. He runs away when he hears the crinkling sound. I'm teaching him that these things aren't bad, and he is slowly getting used to them. He loved Sadie and Jasmine right away because they are females. We almost name him Stiffler, if you get the joke. lol. If I had to describe him in five words those five would be:
  1. Momma's
  2. Boy
  3. Forever
  4. And
  5. Ever!
Just kidding! The real five words are:
  1. Protective
  2. Smart
  3. Stubborn
  4. Playful
  5. Jealous
He's definitely a mommy's boy though. He LOVES me from Pluto and back a million times. I seem to be the only one who matters to him in the world. If he isn't outside in our backyard playing with the other dogs, then he is next to me. He never leaves my side unless he is outside. I can't walk out of the room with out him following me. He even gave me a present about a week ago. It was a dead bird. He killed a birdy just for me. lol. He doesn't like the other animals to get my attention. He wants all of my attention, and he thinks the others shouldn't get any. Sometimes it can get annoying. He's extremely protective. He doesn't like other male dogs, and DOES NOT, absolutely DOES NOT like strangers! We weren't going to keep him at first. Surprisingly, I didn't want another dog. My husband said it was up to me whether I wanted to keep him or not because in a couple weeks he was going to leave for BMT. But I was afraid whose hands he was going to end up in. I was afraid he would end up getting abused again, and possibly end up fighting other dogs. I didn't want to even think about him going through that.

So, those are my dogs! Cute huh?! I know!
What five words would you use to describe your animal(s)?

More to come.

XOXO
Sam :)
